Nonprofit Fundraising: How to gain more social media followers?

There has been so much said and written on how social media can be beneficial for nonprofit fundraising. With over 2.77 billion people expected to be using social media by 2019 (up from 2.46 billion in 2017), the opportunities for social media support seem endless. You can ofcourse depend on modern donor management softwares for your nonprofit fundraising, but how do you create and sustain that engagement with your donors? And how do you increase the number of your loyals without exhausting your balance? It all comes down to social media platforms such as Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, LinkedIn, Snapchat and Youtube.

The perks of having a huge following is truly undeniable. Let us look into the few most easy ways in which you can increase your number of followers.

Organize contests

To engage means to involve, what better way to involve your supporters than conducting a contest which would require all participants to like/follow your handles on social media platforms.

Content

Pay attention to the content of your social media posts. Show how you are helping to make a difference and go for reoccurring theme, a regular “Friyay” post on fridays is a good example. Your social media page should be informative with news that pertains to the nonprofit industry. In case of milestones or big donations, show your gratitude with a thank you post now and then.

Bonding over shares and tags

It is okay to share posts by other nonprofits. Share the love and form the bond, this act could have a high chance of getting reciprocated and your visibility would definitely shoot up. Also, you can tag people and organizations in your post that are relevant to the content of the post.

Powerful visuals

Be it a still image or a video, include a visual with each post. Make sure your visuals are eye-catching and engaging. Do not refrain from thinking out of the box.

Be responsive to your supporters

If necessary, assign a team member to be responsible for reverting to messages on social media. Show your supporters that you care about their opinion and feedbacks, that you are willing to interact with them beyond posts and contests.
