Answering the Call: Continuing the Prophetic Mission of Christ in Today’s World GiveCentral 4 months ago When we are baptized, we are baptized into the threefold ministry of Jesus—priest, prophet, and king. Today, the Prophet Isaiah speaks on God’s behalf and defines the prophet’s mission: to proclaim liberty to captives, healing to the brokenhearted, good news to the poor, and a time of favor from the Lord. As members of the Church, baptized into Christ’s ministry, it is our responsibility to carry out this same prophetic mission. We are called to bring God’s message to the world, to offer healing and hope to those in need. A recent Gallup study found that 70% of Americans consider themselves spiritual, yet only 15–20% regularly attend religious services. This reveals a deep hunger for connection with God and the community. Our churches can be places where people find that connection, just as Isaiah described in his prophecy. Call to Action:Advent and Christmas bring many visitors to church, and it’s essential to make these moments count. Don’t let visitors slip away without reaching out. Make sure your GiveCentral GC Smart Tools are ready! Prepare your pew cards, QR codes, texting number, bulletin inserts, posters, and greeters. If you need assistance or have questions about using these tools, contact Teresa at teresa@givecentral.org or Edgar at ebarroso@givecentral.com. Pastoral Action Points: Stay prepared like the wise virgins throughout this holiday season. Have your GC Smart Tools ready, including pew cards, texting numbers, and emails. Assign greeters or volunteers to run an “information booth” for visitors. They’ll appreciate knowing where restrooms are, and it will make them feel welcome. Consider enlisting confirmation students who may need service hours to assist with welcoming visitors during Christmas and New Year’s services. Encourage families to attend Mass together on Sunday, December 31st, the Feast of the Holy Family. Offer family-friendly activities, as studies show that families who worship together are more likely to remain active in their faith. GiveCentral See Full Bio
