Activities to Engage your Community During Lent

With Lent in full swing, it’s not too late to think of some fun and easy ideas to engage your community and perhaps even raise a few funds. While Lent is a time of reflection and prayer, it can also be a time of action and reconnection. Here are a few lent fundraising ideas to get your members involved and active during this season:

Host a Spring Yard Sale

If the weather permits, host an outdoor yard sale and encourage people to declutter and sell some stuff! If not, host it indoors! The proceeds can be used to fund a field trip or a much-needed repair of an appliance or a building.

Host a 5K or group hike for a cause

Get your community moving and connecting with each other by hosting a hike or walk! This is a great way to encourage exercise, while also allowing your members to reconnect with nature – and each other!

Organize a soup supper

For a small fee, host a supper one or two nights a week. This is a great way to get people together around a warm meal and conversation.

Have a movie night

Have people pay for a small fee ‘movie tickets’ and raise money for a good cause. This is a fun and family-friendly way to create community and raise some funds!

Crowdfund!

Crowdfunding live at an event can be a great motivator for members to give to a  cause or a need and an easy way to create a sense of excitement and community! Learn more about crowdfunding and text giving and how much fun it can be!

Lent is a meaningful season and can be a great opportunity to reconnect with your existing community and form new bonds with others. Don’t hesitate to reach out to people, thank them for their service to your nonprofit, and invite them spend time together in person!
